As a racer I’m absolutely in love with the TransAm Series. I’d love to eventually race it myself because for me it just ticks all the right boxes.
Being a competitive Formula Ford racer myself and an avid NASCAR fan this category just has everything you want as a driver. Anyway, I’ve been very distracted and not blogging as regularly since my podcast “On The Couch with Hooly” took off, so let's get into another opinion piece.
If you haven’t sat down and watched Netflix’s ‘Bad Sport’ I think you should seriously consider watching it as a race fan. I couldn't get enough of it. One story of their ten part episode series caught my attention to write this blog about America’s most wanted man Randy Lanier.
Many years ago, I used to go up to the Gold Coast Indy 300 to watch my step dad, Geoff race in the GTP Nations Cup class. As a 10 year old kid, I had no idea I was watching some of Indycar’s most memorable moments in its history right in front of my eyes.
It seems like every ten years Sydney is in line to take over Melbourne’s bid to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix when their contract expires in 2025. So, why are these talks being brought up instead of two years down the track when the contract ends?
A lot of rumours have been circulating that Michael Andretti's company, Andretti Autosport, wants to join the F1 circus in the near future. This got me thinking of how many other potential Formula 1 teams are actually trying to buy their way in by 2025?
In 1971 cigarette companies around the world were slowly being outlawed along with their sponsorship and marketing, but it took many years to completely remove the foot hold they had in sports. You still have some cigarette companies using loopholes in the system to promote themselves via vape companies and so on, but it’s nowhere near the same as it was twenty years ago.
That was as exciting and intense as it could get! I absolutely loved watching it as a race fan. I could go on about that lap one incident in particular, between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, but that has been beaten to a bloody pulp by experts and fans alike on the internet.
I was recently listening to the ‘V8 Slueth Podcast with John Faulkner’ and it got me thinking. The privateer’s cup really was a hidden gem of its time wasn’t it? John brought up the fact that the REC Supercars system really has gotten a bit out of hand these days and I have to agree.
Fifteen years ago I use to absolutely love NASCAR. I actually got into it because of its Playstation games from EA Sports and as most of you fans know Supercars legend Marcos Ambrose also raced in NASCAR for a brief period of time in the states. That’s actually how I fell in love with it.

Daniel Holihan’s podium streak of 12 podiums came to an end after a character building weekend at Wakefield Park in Goulburn. The wet, greasy and damp track proved to be tricky for all drivers. Holihan unfortunately couldn’t get it all together during his qualifying run, after he qualified on the last row of the grid.
Daniel Holihan grabbed his first ever outright victory in the Formula Ford 1600 division over this past weekend. Netting three podiums, a pole position and a maximum amount of PB’s for the weekend. The Barton Mawer Motorsport team now has four rounds left to play for in the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship
Daniel Holihan thought his season was all but over after the last round with the Supercars at Sydney Motor Sport Park, but it was decided at the very last minute by Formula Ford New South Wales that there would be an added double points round at Wakefield Park on December 11/12.
Daniel Holihan will return to racing at Sydney Motor Sport Park for his final race of the season.

After a 14 month hiatus, Daniel Holihan, the 32 year old Sydney-sider returned back to racing. In 2020, he almost walked away from the sport, but on his return Holihan showed that fighting spirit hadn’t left him despite having zero seat time leading up to Round 2 of the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Series.
As the new team is gelling together after missing the first round due to budget constraints and logistical problems, the clock will be ticking on what Daniel Holihan wants to do after his achieved all his desired goals in Formula Ford.
Barton Mawer Motorsport has opted not go historic racing in 2021 with Daniel Holihan despite his past success in the highly competitive historic formula ford category.
After initially wanting to take a year off from motorsport driver coach and two-time world time attack champion, Barton Mawer, decided to bring back his father’s formula ford team from the late 90’s aboard the Spectrum 011K with help from Ellery Motorsport Enterprises and Borland Racing Developments down in Victoria.
This is my take on what could be done to improve the category to drive bigger crowds to events and bring it in line with other top global motorsports leagues.
